The Mariano Castro Elementary School project began in Sept 2016 with temporary housing.

 In February 2017, construction began on new wings of classrooms, the new multi-use room and library shared with Mistral Elementary.

 This new school can house up to 450 students. There are 15 general education classrooms, and 3 kindergarten classrooms with a dedicated play-yard, as well as two flex rooms and one childcare/afterschool program room.The multi-use room includes a gymnasium floor and a stage. There are new play areas and blacktop.
